Every Sunday at 9:30am we meet for our EQUIPPING SCHOOL CLASSES for all ages. This year in Adult Equipping School, we are tracing the beautiful thread of reconciliation that runs through the entire Bible.
Starting on January 18, during our Equipping School, we will offer a new class entitled: Standing Firm: Gospel Clarity in a Strange New World taught by Brad Peters. In this class we will study thru the book Strange New World by Carl Trueman. Trueman traces how modern ideas about identity, freedom, and truth have reshaped our culture—and how the church should respond. This class will examine the cultural shifts that deepen human alienation from God and from one another, and how the gospel alone offers true reconciliation. Together we’ll learn how to live as a reconciled people in an age of confusion, holding fast to Christ, proclaiming His truth, and reflecting the unity that anticipates the Great Reunion God has promised from eternity past.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
- Class Title: God’s Work of Reconciliation in Church History (Pastor Mike Berry) (Nov. 9 - May 31)
Description: From the days of the apostles to the present, Christ has been building His church—calling the alienated to Himself and uniting them into one body by the Spirit. This class will explore the story of that great work, tracing God’s providence through persecution, doctrinal struggles, cultural upheavals, and spiritual awakenings. Using Bruce Shelley’s Church History in Plain Language alongside other resources, we will see how the Lord has preserved His people, refined His church, and advanced His plan for the Great Reunion that will be fully realized in eternity. Along the way, we will be reminded that the challenges we face today are not new, and that the same gospel that reconciled believers in ages past is still gathering and perfecting the saints today.
2a. Class Title: True & False Holiness: Living Reconciled Lives Before God (Wade Sorola) (Nov. 9 - Jan 11)
Description: In Holiness: The False and the True, H.A. Ironside tells his own journey from striving after a counterfeit holiness to resting in the true holiness that comes through union with Christ. This class will explore how being reconciled to God changes not only our standing before Him, but also the way we walk with Him and with one another. Together we’ll examine how God’s grace transforms us from the inside out, producing a holiness that reflects our unity in Christ now, and anticipates the perfect holiness and fellowship we will share in the Great Reunion to come.
2b. Class Title: Standing Firm: Gospel Clarity in a Strange New World (Brad Peters) (Jan 18-Apr 19)
Description: In Strange New World, Carl Trueman traces how modern ideas about identity, freedom, and truth have reshaped our culture—and how the church should respond.
2c. Class Title: Delighting in the Triune God: The Source of All Reconciliation (Alvin Davis) (Apr. 26 - May 31)
Description: At the heart of reconciliation is the Triune God Himself. Before creation, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit delighted in perfect love and fellowship. Out of that overflowing love, God created, redeemed, and now indwells His people, drawing us into His own joyful communion. Using Delighting in the Trinity by Michael Reeves, this class will explore how reconciliation flows from who God is—the Father who gives life, the Son who shares His inheritance, and the Spirit who unites believers in Christ. Together we’ll learn to delight in the Triune God who makes us one with Himself and with one another.
- Class Title: Counseling/Discipleship as a Critical Key for Reconciliation
(Pastor Karlos Limtiaco) (Nov. 9 - May 31)
Description: In this class, we will review an approach and method for counseling hard cases—such as sexual abuse, OCD, depression, paralyzing fear, identity disorders, sexual sin, addiction, and more. Throughout the year, we will discover afresh the relevance of God’s Word to our own lives, even as we explore its relevance for those engulfed in significant struggles. Whether you are facing your own challenges or walking alongside others in theirs, you will find that this class is for you.
- Class Title: Reconciliation through Adversity: A Study of 2 Samuel (Dan Whiteker) (Nov. 9 - May 31)
Description: Second Samuel is a story of a kingdom in turmoil—marked by sin, betrayal, grief, and division—yet also a story of God’s steadfast plan to unite His people under His chosen king. Using Dale Ralph Davis’ commentary, this class will explore how God works reconciliation through the messiness of human relationships and the trials of leadership. We will see how David’s reign points forward to the perfect King, Jesus Christ, who will one day bring the Great Reunion when all God’s people will dwell together in peace and righteousness.
