The Capital Improvement Projects that Cornerstone seeks to accomplish are mutually beneficial projects between Cornerstone and Bourns. Our involvement in such projects is designed partly to return the good faith that Bourns has shown us over the years. With Bourns as our landlord, we have received so much – from lease rates below market value, to a 3-month lease credit of $36,000 they provided us in 2021, to the ever-present hospitality and attentiveness that we receive from every member of the Bourns facility team. We are eager to return that good faith by collaborating with them on projects that provide benefit to both Cornerstone and Bourns.
The most desirable of such projects are ones which enable us to improve the stewardship of our leased spaces, whether it’s expanding our footprint for ministry communications, increasing the reliability of our shared A/V and technology systems, or opening the door for more functional congregating spaces. As we continue to refine how Cornerstone does ministry in the Bourns Technology Center, we will prioritize facilities projects that positively impact attendees of Cornerstone in their journey from brokenness to wholeness through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
As promised in our 2022 January Annual Meeting and affirmed by the Cornerstone congregation, we will be doing a renovation of the CFBC Entryway, which is the space you walk through right after you pass through our front doors. This project will be accomplished in a 50/50 partnership with Bourns and will help us achieve greater usage of the square footage on the northeast side of the lobby area, leaving us with additional space for congregating and ministry and providing more immediate visibility for the weekly communications on the northeast side of the lobby. Once this project is completed, those entering our front doors will immediately feel welcomed into a brighter and more open setting, and immediately visible direction regarding all things Cornerstone. Over the next 4 Sundays, we may be having you enter the Lobby through different doors, but we will make that clear to you as you approach the entrance each week. We'll keep you updated on the progress of this project here.
