Speaking of, childbirth, let me have you turn in your Bibles to Genesis 21. Genesis 21, where there is another birth that we are told about in this passage. And if Chris and Candace had named their child Isaac, it would have fit perfectly with the sermon for today. But we're gonna be looking at verses 1 through 21 this morning and if you wanna give a title to the message today, it would be A Child Received and cheered.
A child expelled and saved. I did a little research, this past week, because of what we find in our passage today and found that according to a British newspaper called The Telegraph, on August 20th, 1997, a British woman named Dawn Brooke became the oldest woman. To naturally conceive and give birth when she gave birth to a son. At the age of 59.
There are a few other women from the research that I did who have had children at various points in their 60s, but all Known cases of those were situations where the mother had received in vitro fertility treatments. But best I could find, the oldest woman in history to conceive naturally and give birth was this woman at the age of 59. Except for Sarah, Abraham's wife, according to our passage, today, based on what we're going to see here today in Genesis 21, Sarah evidently had blown past the age of 59. had blown past the age of 65 and 70 and 75 and 80 and 85.
And at the age of 90, she conceives and gives birth to her son, Isaac. There is no explanation for what we see in our passage today, except that it is a miracle of God. Had Sarah maybe had Isaac at the age of 61, we would have thought, wow, that's amazing, that's a world record. I don't know that we would have thought it was a miracle....
