Oh Lord, we thank you so much for this morning for us to gather together and to study your word, both in our Sunday school class, but also to look at your word and, The preaching service later, we pray, not just for ourselves but also for all of those that are teaching our children that you would fill them with your Spirit, fill us with your Spirit as we look at your word, there are things here that we need to hear. we need to be fed. We are sheep. We thank you that you are our shepherd, and we pray that you would guide us this morning.
In Christ's name, we pray. Amen. All right. so this morning, the lesson is titled Responding.
To Jesus. And what we're gonna see in Luke 4 is there's two very different kinds of human responses. we're gonna actually look at an angelic or demonic response on the front end to set up the rest of the chapter. But there's two different types of responses that we're gonna see.
One group tries to keep Jesus from leaving town. another group wants to throw him off a cliff. And so one of the questions I wanna ask this morning is what accounts for such extreme responses, especially since both of these groups were very religious people. this wasn't a bunch of, idol worshiping pagans....
