We've got a very important lesson this morning, but let's pray. Lord, we thank you so much for this time, for us to be together and to talk about your word. We ask you to fill us with your Spirit, help us to grow in our understanding of your word, apply it to our lives, help us to walk in humility. We pray this in the name of Jesus.
Amen. All right, One of the questions that we're going to be seeking to answer this morning is how does evolution impact the doctrine of marriage? or how does evolution interact with the biblical view of Adam and Eve in general? we're living in a day.
I don't know how much you guys stay up on the news that deals with evolution, creation, or I, I subscribe to a number of different feeds where I'm, I'm getting updates from people from lots of different perspectives on a pretty regular basis. And What's, what's not surprising is that you have unbelieving scientists and unbelieving people who deny what the Bible says, deny the historicity of Adam and Eve, deny. basically try to argue that science has debunked, a straightforward reading of, of the Bible. That's not surprising.
What is surprising is that you have not liberal believers, but people within the realms of conservative, what we call conservative evangelicalism that are now entertaining the possibility that perhaps Adam and Eve were not historical figures, that Adam and Eve are just metaphors for the first man and the first woman. And I'm gonna propose this morning through our curriculum that there's some serious consequences to that. And one of the consequences is on marriage and I think we're seeing it today. We're gonna just do a real quick flyby....
