Let me invite you, this morning to turn in your Bibles to Genesis chapter 4. Genesis chapter 4, we're, we're, this is really not a, a pleasant feeling sermon. we are going to be, witnessing God's response to Cain's act of murder. In fact, if you want to give a title to the message today, it would be God Responds to Cain's sin.
We see today God responding to the first murderer in the history of human civilization, and we'll be looking at verses 9 through 16 as we observe God's response to Ward Cain, who has committed a heinous act of murder. So let me start off on a jarring note. You won't like this, but it will help you to get into Adam and Eve's shoes as they would have heard the news of this exchange between God and Cain. Imagine that a criminal.
Kills your child. And then that criminal after killing your child stands before a judge whom you have always known to be a good and a righteous judge. Imagine that the murderer shows no remorse as he stands before this judge over the crime that he has committed against your child. In fact, he speaks with calloused disregard about your child as he stands before the judge.
He won't even admit that he committed the crime. Even though and the judge knows that he did it. Imagine that this judge renders a decision and decides to let the man live. And simply takes the man's job away from him and reduces his livelihood by let's say 80%....
