Acts chapter 2 for a time of study in God's word, this morning. we, this is the 2nd week of our series on moving forward in community with one another, and we, about a month ago stopped the old care groups, and they now cease to exist and are no longer allowed to gather. just kidding, but the, but we're gonna be, revamping and adding a couple care group leaders into the mix and, and just, regrouping and, the new care groups will begin September 14th. And so we, we wanna just reorient our thinking.
Carlos preached last week on relationships and that's definitely so critical when we think about coming together in this way. And I'm going to preach this morning on something that's relevant to that. Mike Barry is preaching next week, and it's going to be more of a family. focus, but the whole goal is how we as as a church and as families can move forward together and do so effectively in community with one another.
And essentially my goal today is to take us to Acts 2 and to, learn some lessons from there that can help frame our thinking and, and all of this is going to be by way of reminder. And, in fact, if you want to give a title to the message this morning, it is this imitating a mega church. Imitating a mega church. we're all imitators, aren't we?
We're incurable imitators, and we imitate sometimes intentionally. but also without even thinking, I have found that I actually occasionally imitate my children. I'll say or do something and it's like, Whoa, that's just like such and such a child, and I didn't do that intentionally, but they influenced me and I probably influenced them. We are incurable imitators and even as a church we are an imitator hopefully of the very best that we see out there in churches today....
