Let me have you, turn in your Bibles this morning to Genesis chapter 17. We are continuing in our study of the Book of Genesis, and as we continue in our study, we come this morning to Genesis chapter 17. My goal today is to cover verses 1 through 27. And if you want to give a title to the message, it would be Pressing Home, the Covenant.
At the end of hope. Pressing home the covenant at the end of hope. in John 11, you guys, many of the story. Jesus shows up in the little town of Bethany after Lazarus had died.
And both Mary and Martha, when they saw Jesus after he arrived in Bethany, They approached him at 2 different points, but both of them said exactly the same thing to Jesus. They both said, Lord, if you had been here, My brother would not have died. It was their hope that Jesus would have showed up earlier. And performed a miracle of healing Lazarus so that he would not die.
And this is why they had sent word to him days earlier. But Jesus delayed. In coming to Bethany, intentionally. And little did Mary and Martha realize that Jesus intentionally delayed coming to them because he wanted to do the greater miracle....
