Look at the scripture and try to emulate that ourselves to be an Acts type of church, and, and we feel at this church that church membership is important. When we at Cornerstone speak of membership, we mean a Christian who recognizes that he is a member of the universal body of Christ, first of all, and therefore acts out that reality by committing himself. Or covenanting himself to this local body of believers in order to accomplish several things. First of all, to be equipped for ministry, that you are equipping yourself for ministry to be used by God.
Also to be able to use his or her giftedness and resources for the benefit of this local body and also receive from this body to be ministered to. And number 3, also to be held accountable by other believers. this accountability is something that's needed in all of our lives and even to the point of asking your fellow believers here to kick you out of the church if you continue in sin and you're unrepentant of those things. And then finally to be shepherded by the pastors and elders at our church here.
And this is letting the elders know that you desire to place yourself under their authority and their teaching. So when you are covenanting with us, these are things you are doing in order to become a member of Cornerstone. You must be born again, as evidenced by ongoing repentance and belief. You must be baptized and you must be willing to make a covenant commitment to this local body.
the individuals that I am calling up here this morning have done this, and we would like to have them, come forward so we can recognize them. First off, we have Saul, Alexandra, Daniella, Joanna, and Alicia Aguilar. Yes. We also have Chris and Kara Kidder....
