The call of Cornerstone to Mercy, and I want to give you 6 musts, 6 things that we must do in response to what we have been learning. In recent weeks on the subject of mercy ministry. Remember, mercy is compassionate ministry to somebody in need, especially dire need, and that could be spiritual need, especially it is a physical, need, when we see somebody that God brings across our way or God brings us across their way, who is in dire physical, material, and even spiritual need. we are to compassionately address that need.
That's what this series has been about and all the things that we have learned. we want to talk today about how we need to respond to that. So 6 things that we must do. By way of starting off though, this morning, I wanna share with you, over the years, there have been moments where God has taught me or convicted me in this area of mercy ministry.
And one such occasion was about 12 years ago. I, my wife and I went to a Christian bookstore in Colton. And the sun had just set. I remember it being dark.
And as we got out of our car and we're walking through the parking lot towards the front entrance of the store, I saw a homeless looking man standing at that door. At the entrance and instantly, I just did some immediate processing. I thought this guy is standing there, he's gonna ask us for something, for money or whatever when we hit the door, and he's standing in front of a Christian bookstore so as to capitalize on, Christians, and trying to appeal to their best sensibilities to try to get money from them. And so immediately, my heart was cynical....
