Let me invite you guys to turn in your Bibles to Genesis 28. Genesis 28 for our time of study and the word. This morning, if you want to give a title to the message today, it would be the God of Jacob. We're gonna look at the last verse of Genesis 27 and then try to cover through the full length of Genesis chapter 28, just an amazing account that we find in these verses.
every young person who is raised in a Christian home. must come to a point in their lives when their faith becomes their own, when God personally visits them in His mercy, and His grace, and they then respond to Him in that visitation, and saving faith and making God their God. Until that day of divine visitation comes, it's easy for a young person to casually examine the claims of Christianity and intellectually evaluate the merits of their parents' religion. It's even easy to be critical of the imperfections of other Christians and feel justified in holding it all at arm's length.
That's what I did. Until the evening of November 13th, 1982, when the Lord showed up. One evening and visited me in His mercy. In that moment, God's presence was so powerful and so real and his beauty was so palpable to me and his invitation to me to come to him was so compelling that it was no longer about what I thought regarding anyone else.
It was suddenly only about God and what I was going to do with Him. And at 11:15 that night, I sat on my bed in my bedroom and I wrote out a prayer of surrender. To God and yielded everything in my life to Him. It's that moment....
