Well, let me, invite you to turn in your Bibles, this morning to Genesis chapter 19 for our time of study in God's word, this morning. Genesis chapter 19, we're doing a verse by verse study through the book of Genesis and as we continue in our study this morning, we come today to Genesis chapter 19, verse 30. My goal is to look at verses 30 to 38, and if you want to give a title to the message this morning, it would be the preservation of Lot's family. The preservation of Lot's Family, One of the commentaries that I have been using as, I, we've been doing our series through Genesis.
is a commentary by HC Leopold. At the end of each chapter of his commentary, he has a little section called homiletical Suggestions where he shares thoughts on how various passages, in the preceding chapter of his commentary could be handled from the pulpit by pastors as they minister to their congregations. So you can imagine how interested I was. To read his suggestions for how to handle verses 30 through 38 of Genesis 19, this morning.
And you can imagine my dismay when regarding our passage today, Leopold says, certainly. All must agree. That verses 30 to 38 cannot be a text for a sermon. This isn't just his opinion, apparently.
He says all must agree. And to make it even more emphatic, he says, certainly all must agree that verses 30 to 38 cannot be a text. For a sermon. So let's just close our service with prayer....
