Galatians chapter 4. For our time of study and the word this morning. for those of you that are visiting, we're doing a verse by verse study through the book of Galatians. And as we continue in our study of this book, we come this morning to Galatians chapter 4, verse 3.
And my goal this morning is essentially to cover verses 3, through, 10. And the title of the message this morning is Truths That Will Keep Us from Turning Back. Truths That Will Keep Us from Turning Back. I want to begin this morning by introducing you to a guy named Dr.
Russ Moore, who is the dean of the School of Theology and the senior vice president for academic administration at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In Louisville, Kentucky, Russell Moore and his wife Maria several years ago adopted two boys from a Russian orphanage, and I want to read to you some excerpts of Russ Moore's account of some of the aspects involved in that adoption. He says this when Maria and I first walked into the orphanage where we were led to the boys that the Russian wards had picked out for us to adopt. We almost vomited in reaction to the stench and the squalor of the place.
The boys were in cribs in the dark, lying in their own waste. Leaving them at the end of each day was painful, but leaving them the final day before going home to wait for the paperwork to go through was the hardest thing that either of us had ever done. Walking out of the room to prepare for the plane ride home, Maria and I could hear Maxim, that's one of the boys, calling out for us and falling down in his crib, convulsing in tears.
