So as you probably saw that, the title of the message is walking backwards to Deliverance. And hopefully we'll develop that as it goes along, but In his book, The, The Christ Key, Chad Bird shares some insight into how we can orient ourselves. And so in the days before satellites and GPS sailors would use the, the stars to orient themselves. And this word orient, it comes from the Latin word oriens, which means sunrise.
So, quite literally, if you were gonna orient yourself, you would face east. And the Israelites, they had a similar idea. Their word for east in Hebrew means in front of. So if you're going to orient yourself Hebrew style, you would face frontward or eastward.
But that's not all. The same word can actually mean past or olden days, which really makes perfect sense if you, if you stop to think about it, right? We, we can see what's behind us. Now, I know it sounds strange, but, but stick with me.
The things in the past are the things that are visible to us. You, you might say that that's actually what's in front of us. And you might be saying, well, what about the future? that's really what's in front of us....
