Well, today is sanctity of Life Sunday. And this year I'd like to take the opportunity of this special Sunday to speak to the abortion issue and To give you some encouragements in this area. It was 48 years ago this month that the Roe v. Wade decision was handed down by the United States Supreme Court, and since that time, Almost 60 million children.
In our country have been aborted. Statistics show that 1 out of every 4 women. And our country will at some point make the choice to abort the child that is in Their womb, and that's a lot of children dying and that's a lot of women in our culture today along with the men involved in those decisions that are carrying the of the choices that they have made. As for me personally, I'm not sure that a day goes by that I am not reminded of the abortion issue, primarily because there is a Planned Parenthood clinic that is literally a 2 minute walk.
From my door of our house to the door of this clinic, 2 minute walk. Every other day I walk. My dog. Within 6 ft of the entrance of this clinic going one way and then about 3 minutes later I'm coming up the sidewalk in the other direction and encounter a group of 3 to 6 people who are standing out front and holding signs and praying and urging people not to get an abortion, and I enjoy my connection with these individuals that are standing out front.
And I seek to encourage them in the good work that they are doing. When I walk by the clinic every day or every other day, I join this group in praying that God will one day turn that clinic from a place of death into a place of life. Nowadays, women in our culture are encouraged to be proud of their abortions. and to tell their stories....
