And happy Mother's Day, to all of you moms. today is Mother's Day, and being Mother's Day, we want to take a moment to recognize, the moms that are here with us in our service this morning. in the 10 Commandments, the 5th commandment says, honor your father and your mother. And the only reason that God would command us to honor both our fathers and our mothers is because the institution of fatherhood and motherhood are eminently worthy of honor, right?
We, we live in a culture today that is devaluing the family. And, but the scripture teaches us that God created the family. It's the institution that he ordained. And in that family, there's a father and the mother doing what God has called them to do and bringing up their children and the nurture and discipline of the Lord.
This is God's plan. This is his pattern. We honor fathers and, and mothers. We're also blessed in Scripture in First Timothy 5, where Paul, is talking about how that we as a church are a family.
And he says to Timothy, relate to the older men as fathers and relate to the older women as mothers, teaching us that in the church and the family of God, there are, there are women that serve as spiritual mothers. To many others in, in the church body, in the family of God. And so we honor such spiritual moms as well, today who play such a strategic, encouraging, loving role in the lives of so many in, in our church, church body. So what I want to do is, if you are here today, and you are a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, expectant mother, spiritual mother, A mother in any such way, can you stand so that we can recognize you and express our appreciation to you?...
