For our time of study and God's word this morning, what I, Phil led to do is to continue doing what we were doing, last week, and that is looking at the cross and it turns out there's more discoveries to be made at the foot of the cross. And last week we looked at 6 discoveries that we can make as we gaze upon the cross and, this week we're going to look at 7 additional ones. I was a little frustrated last week in preparing for the message because there were just so many points I had to cut out of the message that I knew we didn't have any time for, but today I want to sweep those things together and make some more discoveries at the foot of the cross. It turns out there's a lot.
that is inside Christ and Him crucified if we would but take the time to both realize it and then search out those things. The world may look at us gazing at the cross and they're like, Well, what do you see? I don't get it. They don't get it.
It's foolishness to them, but inside is infinite wisdom and treasures of wisdom and insight. in 1 Corinthians chapter 2, verse 2, the apostle Paul is reflecting on his ministry to the Corinthian believers when he was with them earlier. And he says, basically, you guys recall that when I was with you, I determined to know nothing among you except Christ and Him crucified. In other words, he's saying, when I, when I was with you, I behaved as if that's all I knew.
And you guys would come up and And, try to talk about this guru or this philosopher, and, what these other guys are saying who are traveling through Corinth and, and giving their philosophical teachings. But I kept bringing you back to Christ and Him crucified. I know more than that, but I was content to minister to you as if I only knew Christ and Him crucified. And when you think about the theological assumption and even the practical assumption that underlies that philosophy of ministry, you realize that in the mind of Paul, Christ and Him crucified was large enough to carry all of the freight that needs to be carried of power and glory, transformation and wisdom and insight that believers need for life and godliness....
