when he's talking about Solomon in 1 Kings chapter 11, he starts off with this Peanuts cartoon where Lucy says, and so the king was granted his wish. Everything he touched would turn to gold. Now, the next day, Lina says stop. You don't have to read any further.
I know just what's going to happen. These things always have a way of backfiring. And that's the feeling that we get when we track the story and the life of Solomon. Everything seems to be going great.
Everything Solomon touches turns to gold and buildings and flourishing, and then you get to chapter 11 and there's this big thud. And the feeling that we, the reader is meant to have when we get to that chapter is what has gone wrong. Houston, we have a problem. And so, this morning, what we wanna do is, what I wanna propose is, is that we take a look at the life of Solomon and try to figure out how does this king who showed so much promise and so much, flourishing, end up with such failure and how are we to view him?...
