Well, let me invite you guys to turn in your Bibles to Romans chapter 6 for our time of study. And the word this morning, it's so good to see all of you here. today. We have been doing a a study through Romans 5 through 8, which is essentially a journey to the heart of the gospel.
And today we're gonna pause in that journey and address a topic that, that is brought up in the verses that we would have been covering today if we were continuing through Romans chapter 6, and that is the subject of baptism. And so the topic I want to address this morning is the subject of water baptism, and the sermon title is Be Ready, this is Creative Water baptism. And we're just do an overview of what we see in the New Testament regarding this this doctrine. Look at Romans chapter 6, verses 3 and 4.
We see the word for baptism showing up 3 times in these two verses. Paul says, Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? He's like, regarding this whole sin issue in your lives as believers, let me point you back to your baptism. Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?
Therefore, we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead to the glory of the Father, so We too might walk in newness of life. Paul not only is referring to baptism here, but he actually is pointing us back to our baptism, and he's wanting that to actually serve as something that stimulates us onto the sanctification. if there's a number of people that look at verses 3 and 4, for example, and they're like, man, I wonder what Paul's talking about. Is it spiritual baptism or water baptism?...
