Let me invite you To turn in your Bibles this morning to Mark chapter 4. Mark chapter 4 for our time of study. In God's word this morning. If you want to give a title to the message, it would be, Who is this?
Who is this whom the winds and the sea obey? for those of you that were with us last Sunday, you'll recall that we were in Matthew 16, and we just listened in on a part of Jesus' conversation with his disciples, where he asked them, the question, who do you say that I am? And they give an answer. Peter speaking on behalf of the disciples says, you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus says, Simon, you are blessed. That's the right answer. And I intended to just leave the message at that. But at Care Group last Sunday evening, somebody read and said something that triggered a train of thought that I think is worth traveling on over the next at least 3 weeks.
And that is this, there are actually 3 occasions in the gospel accounts where Jesus says or does something. That causes people to look at him and say, who is this? And so what we'll do today is we'll look at the first of those 3 incidences and we'll look at the other 2 in the weeks to follow. And our story this morning....
